Mr Schultz said this in Lusaka yesterday when he met President Edgar Lungu at State House where the two discussed current political, economic and social issues.
He congratulated President Lungu on his recent inauguration and reiterated Washington’s commitment to a continued wide-ranging partnership with the government and Zambians.
In a statement issued by the American Embassy, Mr Schultz and Mr Lungu further discussed their commitment to expand trade and investment between the two countries.
They also exchanged views on the importance of adhering to principles of democracy and the rule of law, the nearly US$500 million in assistance that the United States contributes to Zambias development each year as well as the American support to Zambia’s participation in peace-keeping operations.
