THE Rainbow Party will remain the most unattractive political party because its leader, Wynter Kabimba, has remained politically inconsequential, Patriotic Front (PF) director of communications Brian Hapunda has charged.
But Rainbow Party mobilization chairman Robert Chikwelete said his party would be in government after the 2016 general elections because Mr Kabimba had proved to be a leader with a vision to save Zambia from bad governance and maladministration.
Mr Hapunda said the Rainbow Party with its leadership should be allowed to fantasize and enjoy their dream that they could one day form government but reality was that Zambians were happy that Mr Kabimba and his allies were chased out of government because of their ill motives against a legitimately elected leadership of former president Michael Sata.
Mr Hapunda said the Rainbow Party was nothing but a joke on the political scene and that Zambians would never take Mr Kabimba and his group seriously because politics was not about being arrogant and disrespectful.
He claimed that when former President Sata fired Mr Kabimba as PF secretary general and Justice minister, Zambians across the country celebrated the dismissal of a man they allegedly disliked for his lack of respect fellow citizens.
Mr Hapunda explained that the PF had gone through its worst political path and had emerged from its succession difficulties to win the presidential election and would never be the same again.
He said it was laughable that a political party formed less than four months ago and feasting on the remnants of PF and other political parties could dream of dislodging the ruling party from Government.
“We can allow Rainbow Party and its leadership to continue fantasizing and enjoying their illusions that they will one day form government.
But the reality is that the Rainbow Party will remain the most unattractive political party in Zambia because of its leader. Zambians celebrated when president Sata fired Mr Kabimba as secretary general of the PF and Justice minister,’’ Mr Hapunda said.
But Mr Chikwelete said the ruling party should be ready for defeat because the Rainbow Party was growing by leaps and bounds and had established structures in all the 10 provinces.
“Rainbow Party is not a joke and for those who would want to think we are here to play, let them be prepared for shock because we are forming government in 2016. We did not endorse any candidate in the last presidential election because we were looking at a bigger picture of winning the 2016 general elections and save Zambians from the maladministration. Zambians are disillusioned with the manner the PF is governing the country and are looking at the Rainbow Party as the alternative government,” Mr Chikwelete said.
Mr Chikwelete said Zambians were disillusioned with the manner the PF was running the country and that they were looking to the Rainbow Party as the alternative.
He said Zambians across the country were joining the Rainbow Party and Mr Kabimba because they had realized that there was no hope for the country under the current leadership.
