NATIONAL Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ) is pleased with intentions by FAZ to keep Honour Janza as head coach of the Chipolopolo Boys, says acting secretary general Innocent Chalabesa.
Chalabesa said the council had learnt with pleasure the association’s decision to give Janza a contract which he said had started taking shape.
He said the council had been following with keen interest calls by some soccer fans for Janza’s dismissal following the early exit of the national team from the Africa Cup of Nations.
“But we welcome the decision by FAZ to maintain Honour Janza as coach of the national team and he should be given a contract,” he said.
He said maintaining Janza and giving him a contract was a positive step in a right direction, adding that the council supported local coaches.
He said the council would like to see all its affiliates engaging local coaches, adding that it would empower the locals with jobs. And Chalabesa said the council will still meet with FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya when he comes back from Equatorial Guinea to discuss the challenges faced by the association, including those the association faced when sending teams for tournaments abroad.
