CHIPOLOPOLO midfielder Nathan Sinkala is sad with the news that he will not play any further part in the 2015 AfCON due to injury.
And coach Honour Janza said Zambia will soldier on without injured Sinkala.
The 24-year-old TP Mazembe midfielder has been ruled out of action for four weeks due to a torn knee ligament.
Sinkala sustained the injury on Sunday during Zambia’s 1-1 Group B opener against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Ebebiyin.
“It is very sad for me, especially that I got injured in the first game. But I am wishing the guys the very best in the remaining games,” he said.
Sinkala limped off in the 85th minute and was replaced by defender Christopher Munthali.
The influential defensive midfielder’s departure has left Zambia with just 22 players to count on in the push for a quarterfinal place in the team’s remaining two Group B matches.
Chipolopolo face Tunisia on Thursday in their penultimate Group B match.
And Janza said his boys will have to soldier on without injured Sinkala for them to perform better in the remaining matches.
Janza said the influential midfielder will be out of action for four weeks due to a torn knee ligament he suffered.
“What has happened to him is beyond his control, so we will miss him as a team because he is one of the instrumental players especially in the midfield.
“But maybe there is another Nathan in the making, so we are not shaken, we always play as a team,” Janza said
The setback has left Janza with only 22 players to fall back on in their remaining Group B matches against Tunisia and Cape Verde.
