I am stepping down for Lungu-Scott

ACTING President Guy Scott yesterday said his time is over as President and will step down for Patriotic Front (PF) leader Edgar Lungu after he wins the election.

And Mr Lungu has warned that he will not allow Presidential candidates who will lose to create anarchy in the nation, adding that police was alert to stop any form of political violence. Dr Scott said Zambians should vote for Mr. Lungu if they were to appreciate the development programmes the PF has put in place. He said it was not a joke to have three presidents at the same rally and supporting the same candidate.

“ine thawi yanga yasila, azabwela Changwa Lungu as president. Osati kungovelela ababenangu,” before he sang a song in Bemba to the amusement of many Zambians who walked long distances to attend the PF rally.

Dr. Scott said the PF had set up many developmental projects which Mr. Lungu should complete.

He said if Mr. Lungu was elected president today, the journey would not be easy as he had to also prepare for another election next year.

“If Hon. Lungu is elected president today it will not be an easy job for him because he will have to prepare for another election in the next few months. He needs support of you people,” said Dr. Scott.

And Mr Lungu said his desire was to see peace and stability during and after the election, adding that the people of Zambia should continue enjoying peace and unity. Mr. Lungu said there was no country or leader who can develop a nation where peace was absent. He said if elected president of Zambia he would continue with the legacy of president Michael Sata which saw massive infrastructure development in roads, schools and hospitals.

“People said I don’t have a vision, what is a vision?  The vision was already written by our President, Mr. Michael Chilufya Sata and we shall follow that. We want to continue with the construction of schools, hospitals, roads and making our people create wealth for themselves,” said Mr. Lungu.

Mr. Lungu said there were some people who thought he could not be president and left the PF to support others.

“I am ready to take this country to another level, I will be President if you elect me tomorrow (today).”

Meanwhile, former president Rupiah Banda said Mr. Lungu would be the next president of Zambia because he was a humble man who had respect for others.

He said Mr. Lungu was the only one who could offer the people of Zambia a focused leadership out of all the candidates contesting in the election.
