CCPC warns shops against cheating on opening hours

Shops misleading consumers on business opening hours will face the wrath of the Consumer Competition Protection Commission (CCPC).

CCPC public relations manager Handford Chaba said shop owners must be careful not to misinform customers as it was against the law.

Some big departmental shops in Lusaka have reportedly been opening their premises hours after the stipulated period of notice.

“Shop owners must be careful not to misinform customers on their opening hours of business as it is against the law’’, he said.

Mr Chaba said it was disappointing for big shops in the city to behave in such a manner, adding that they were in fact  supposed to keep high standards by maintaining good business reputation through the provision of best service  among others.

‘‘It is disappointing for big departmental shops in the capital to be cheating customers on their opening business hours instead of maintaining high standards of good business reputation among other service providers,” he said.
