Lafarge Marathon committee calls for participation

The Lafarge Lusaka marathon (LLM) organizing committee has urged members of the public to enter as individuals, corporates or families in the 10km road race, 42.195 km race, 5km family health walk and the 5km run.

Committee marketing executive Stella Omara told Daily Nation Sports in a statement that the 42.195 km and 10km races will attract prize money for the first five finishers, while all participants will receive a certificate of participation.

Omara said the event, slated for 18 April 2015 at the Levy Business Park, is designed to promote wellness and raise the spirit and values of a marathon.

She said funds raised through participation will be distributed to the various charities that Lafarge Cement PLC supports across the country.

The charities include Chilanga Mother of Mercy Hospice, University Teaching Hospital (pediatric wing and School of Medicine), Arthur Davison children’s hospital in Ndola and Livingstone General Hospital.
