A 25-year-man-old of Nampundwe has brutally murdered his young sister and her two children after a domestic dispute.
The suspect has been identified as Brighton Chibingila while the victims are Monica Chibingila and her children Grace Bwalya, 4, and Danny Bwalya aged nine months.
Lusaka division police commissioner Lemmy Kajoba who confirmed the incident yesterday said a kitchen knife was used in the murder.
“The three bodies have been taken to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary awaiting postmortem,” Mr Kajoba said. Soon after the murder, residents descended on the suspect but quick action by the police saved the man from being lynched. Mr Kajoba said Chibingila was battling for his life in the UTH as result of beatings by an angry mob.
“Police are yet to establish what caused the man to gruesomely murder his sister and her children because currently the suspect is battling for his life in hospital after he was beaten,” he said.
