PATRIOTIC Front (PF) youths on the Copperbelt have said Miles Sampa’s claims that he was behind the success of the late President Michael Sata’s political life through the motor vehicle he contributed to the late president’s political battles are childish and a clear indication of immaturity.
The youths have since launched a campaign dubbed “Refund Miles Sampa Initiative” where they want to raise funds to refund Mr Sampa all the money he contributed to the PF during its journey to government.
Copperbelt PF provincial youth Secretary Binwell Mpundu said PF youths on the Copperbelt were extremely disappointed that Mr Sampa, a man who shared such close relationship with President Sata, could make such an unfortunate statement to brag about his contribution to the late President’s welfare.
Mr Mpundu was reacting to Mr Sampa’s claims that he was behind the success of the late President Sata’s political career through the motor vehicle he contributed to President Sata’s political campaigns.
The PF provincial youth secretary said during a press briefing at Euphrates Lodge in Nkana East that Mr Sampa’s remarks were childish and offensive.
“Today marks 19 days from the day our late President said bye to us and thus for all of us who loved him so dearly and whose eyes have not dried up from mourning him, we are extremely disappointed that Mr Sampa, a man who shared such a close relationship with our President, can make such unfortunate statement to brag about his contribution to the President’s welfare,” Mr Mpundu said.
He also announced that during the course of this week, the youths would open an account for the purpose of refunding Mr Sampa and details would soon be announced to the general public.
The youths have since set aside K2,000 as the initial deposit into the account.
Mr Mpundu said the account would be managed by Mike Manda of Mufulira and Mr Kaboba Mukuzo of Kitwe.
“We are thus calling on the business community as well as individuals who loved the President to come forward and support this cause by making any financial contribution into the said account so that the soul of our late President may rest in peace.
“We will further open a face -book page to be called Refund Miles Sampa Initiative through which people can voice out their opinion regarding this cause,” he said.
