A 42-year-old man who is alleged to have been going round collecting money from unsuspecting members of public has pleaded not guilty in the Lusaka’s Magistrate Court to 18 counts of criminal activities.
Before Magistrate Muzambalika Simwatachela was Eustol Mulenga Kasonteka civil engineer of Chunga compound house number 45/18, who denied the charges . Magistrate Simwatachela recorded plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to December 8, for trial. Kasonteka was remanded in custody. Magistrate Simwatachela recorded plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to October 30,2014 for mention, November 13,2014 mention,November 27,2014 mention and December 8,2014 for commencement of trial. Kasonteka was remanded in custody. In the same courta 72-old man of Lusaka’s West Wood area pleaded not guilty to an indecent assault charge in the Lusaka’s Magistrates’ Court.
Before Mr Simwatachela was Harrison Phiri who denied having indecently assaulted a woman between January1, and September 30 Phiri understood the charge and he pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Simwatachela adjourned the matter to October 30, for mention and November 6 for trial. Phiri has been granted a free bail with two working sureties with reputable organisations.
The magistrate further warned Phiri and the sureties face a fine of K3,000 each should he (PHIRI) ran away.
