Garden residents take on Kapata over land

Garden Township residents have accused their area Member of Parliament Jean Kapata of delaying the process of resolving the land wrangle between a foreign investor and the community.

The dispute involves the investor who has been accused of obtaining land through Lusaka City Council  on which three boreholes for the community have been sunk, annoying Garden residents in the process.

A Garden resident Rabson Msoni said  it was regrettable that despite calls by residents for the area Member of Parliament to resolve the issue, no solution was in sight.

‘’It is regrettable that despite calls for the area MP to resolve the issue, the residents have not received feedback on the issue,’’ he said

Mr Msoni says since the named foreign investor obtained land in question, residents have been denied access to the boreholes.

‘’It is unfortunate that the local authority has given the land belonging to the community to a foreign investor. That land was given to us by the local authority through Care International,’’ he said.
