Cartel goes for Sata

SPORTS Minister Chishimba Kambwili  has denied harbouring any Presidential ambitious and has accused the cartel of infiltrating State agencies to give President Sata false information to estrange him from loyal ministers.

Mr Kambwili said he was fully aware that the cartel was still active and that it was using its decoys in government and the system to misinform President Sata so that he could get rid of his true disciples.

He has since rubbished media reports that he had embarked on a presidential campaign that would see him succeed President Sata who still has the second term to run after the 2016 general elections.

Mr Kambwili said the cartel would stop at nothing because of their greed for power, adding that he was not the only Minister the clique was after as there were many others that had been targeted following the dismissal of Wynter Kabimba as Justice Minister and secretary general of the Patriotic Front.

Mr Kambwili, who refused to comment on assertions that President Sata revealed that he (Kambwili) had allegedly commenced his presidential campaigns said he had remained one of the loyalists of the Head of State and that he was not going to be tempted to betray him (Sata).

He said the media house that was purporting that President Sata disclosed that he (Kambwili) had presidential ambitions had a known agenda and that Zambians would be able to judge for themselves over such allegations.

Mr Kambwili said he was reluctant to comment on the assertions because he did not want to give the newspaper credibility but warned that he was aware that some senior members of the government system were lying to President Sata that some of the Ministers had presidential ambitions.

He told the Daily Nation that he had been informed  that the cartel was actively pursuing its agenda of taking control of State power but that President Sata was aware and alert to the fact that some of such people were still in his government and party.

“I really do not want to comment on these assertions because I may just be giving credence to the purveyors of baseless rumours meant to propagate hatred against innocent people. Of the five founders of the PF, I was one of them and I have remained a loyalist to President Sata and I have no dream of betraying my President. I know  where these rumours are coming from as I have been informed that the cartel is using the system to misinform President Sata so that he can fire me. There is divided loyalty in the system and we are aware. Let them know that they will not succeed because I was among the five who founded PF and President Sata knows how loyal I have been over the years. I will not betray him,” Mr Kambwili said.

He said he was doubtful whether President Sata could have said what had been reported in some media house because his loyalty to the Head of State was unflinching.
