300 PF, MMD members join UPND

OVER 300 Patriotic Front and MMD supporters in Itezhi Tezhi district have ditched their parties to join the United Party for National Development (UPND).

And UPND’s Jacob Mubambo has praised the defectors and described their decision as courageous.

The defectors who were led by former MMD Itumbi ward councillor Kalenga Chingumbe were received by Mr Mubambo and UPND Kanzwa ward councillor Michael Hamasuki.

The defectors all came from Itumbi and Kanzwa wards respectively.

Speaking when he welcomed them into UPND, Mr. Chingumbe said the MMD was under siege.

Mr. Chingumbe said there was nothing in the MMD which would entice people to remain in the former ruling party.

He said those who still supported the MMD and PF could only be compared to lost sheep. Mr. Chingumbe encouraged the people of Itezhi-tezhi to rally behind Mr Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND.

And Mr Mubambo has praised the defectors and described their decision as courageous. He said there was nothing better than supporting a party such as the UPND which he claimed cared for the people of Zambia.

Mr Mubambo charged that those who still doubted the popularity of UPND should not deny themselves an opportunity to be part of the party of the moment.
