UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has consoled his party members and supporters not to be discouraged despite the seemingly unimpressive outcome of the just ended parliamentary by-elections.
And Mr Hichilema has advised his party members not to blame anyone over the loss of some seats to the Patriotic Front and MMD respectively.
In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mr Hichilema said better days would come for UPND which should encourage his members.
He said the party had learnt some lessons from the outcome of by-elections.
Mr Hichilema said UPND members and Zambians should instead soldier on without looking back.
“I want to encourage my members and well-meaning Zambians to soldier on and never look back.
“When you are dealing with parties like PF, you have to be ready for anything. The party does not mean well to the people of Zambia and now they are forcing individuals on people even if they don’t like them,” he said.
Mr Hichilema however admitted that by-elections were difficult especially when they also involved the participation of the ruling party.
And Mr Hichilema advised his members not to blame each other over the outcome of the just ended by-election.
He said there was no need for UPND members to be pointing fingers at each other over what he termed as spilt milk.
The UPND leader has thanked the people who voted for the party’s candidates in all the five constituencies, especially those in Solwezi.
