PF cadres attack

Over 15 suspected PF cadres armed with pangas on Thursday harassed the owner of plot No 68 B and C, Brian Kamushila in Lusaka’s Ibex Hill and allegedly stole his K10, 000 cash, title deeds and two house plan documents.

Acting Police spokesperson Esther Katongo who confirmed having received a report said Woodlands Police Station has since instituted investigations into the matter.

The cadres also grabbed Mr Kamushila’s Toyota Hiace Bus registration number ABC 3359.

Mr Kamushila said his minibus was later dumped in Mtendere east compound but the thugs took away his plot documents and five litres fuel which was in a container.

“Our area chairman Mr Warren Bwalya called me to introduce me to a bricklayer who wanted to work on my plot. So when I got there, we decided to engage a young man who started clearing the land,”

“I even got my documents and started chatting with the bricklayer as I had two house plans. He was advising me on which plan I could use to build my house,” Mr Kamushila said.

He said on the material day, he had even ordered for building sand and made arrangements to buy blocks in the nearby area.

“After I brought sand and made arrangement for blocks, I decided to go and buy air time. So I did not even see how they found themselves on my land,” he said.

His wife Josephine Banda, 37, narrated that her husband had gone to buy air time when the cadres stormed their plot.

“I just saw a Toyota Noah come in high speed to our plot and the next thing I saw were people with pangas. They started harassing the young man whom we had employed to clear the land.

“After seeing them harassing the boy, I decided to move out of the minibus where I was sitting and ran away,” said.

Mrs Kamushila said after she ran away, the cadres drove away her husband’s minibus and abandoned it in Mtendere East.

“We found all the documents which were in the bus gone including my small bag which had K10, 000 cash. They also got the title deeds and the house plans,”  she said.

Mrs Katongo who confirmed having received a report said Woodlands Police Station had instituted investigations into the matter. She said however said the report which was presented to Police force headquarters never included the missing K10, 000 cash.

“We have summoned both parties who are claiming ownership of the plot, we want to investigate the case.

“The information that we have is that among the group that harassed a couple on their plot in Ibex Hill, there was a person called Charles.

He is the one who is also claiming ownership of the same land. But we shall be able to investigate who rightfully owns the land,” Mrs Katongo said.
