National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cosmo Mumba has described the robbery at Kasama Central Member of Parliament Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba’s business premises and of his daughter Thandiwe as politically motivated.
Dr. Mumba told the Daily Nation that the attacks were a scheme by Mr. Mwamba’s enemies within the Patriotic Front.
He said it was strange that since he started business, it was the first time he was being robbed of huge sums of money amounting to K54 000.
“It is my appeal to the police chief in Lusaka to extend investigations to GBM’s enemies in the PF. This is political because we have seen how GBM enemies want his downfall and that is why they have facilitated for all his contracts with government to be cancelled so that they become financially and politically powerful,” said Dr. Mumba.
He warned that aside politics, there were families involved, adding that those who were celebrating GBM’s misfortune were doing it without conscience.
“Let Mr. Kajoba (Lemmy) not close his eyes but also to extend his wings to PF cadres who I suspect have been trailing Mr. Mwamba from the time he resigned as Minister. It has been hard times for my big brother, GBM. He is a strong man despite losing business with government, he is still surviving and moving on. I guess that is what is hurting his enemies,” said Dr. Mumba.
Mr. Mwamba was over the weekend robbed but a quick reponse by Police C5 fouled the scheme and arrested the suspects who are still in detention.
His daughter Thandiwe was also robbed off K54 000 and US$ 3000 which was in her hand bag.
