The Lusaka High Court will today hear and determine whether prominent Lusaka lawyer Vincent Malambo should join the matter in which President Michael Sata denied defending his friends, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito, Post Newspapers owner Fred M’membe and Nchima Nchito who owe the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) K14 Billion which according to Judge Nigel Mutuna ruled that was obtained by fraudulent misrepresentation.
The case will be heard before High Court Judge Irene Lengalenga in chambers.
Mr. Malambo has applied to join the case in which the Head of State has sued Daily Nation proprietor Richard Sakala and academician Choolwe Beyani and the case is scheduled to come up on 24th and 25th June for cross examaination.
But three weeks ago, President Sata in his evidence in-chief claimed that Mr. Malambo could have been dismissed from the case because of incompetence and Mr. Malambo said the President’s statement was injurious.
Mr.Malambo who represented DBZ and won the case against the trio and Zambian Airways in the High Court in the recovery of K 14Billion loan, was eventually removed as the lawyer of the bank after he refused to withdraw the matter from Court.
