Opposition UPND president Hakainde Hichilema says he will not stop preaching salvation that his party holds for the Zambian people.
In an interview yesterday, Mr. Hichilema who was last week attacked by PF cadres on the Copperbelt and forced to sneak out of Sun Radio Station in Ndola using the roof, said that he was not afraid of the PF thugs and no one would stop him from delivering the message.
He said that it was unfortunate that President Michael Sata and the PF wanted to take the people of Zambia for granted.
Mr. Hichilema said that the violence by the PF was a sign of cowardice by its leaders to respond to the challenges the nation was facing, adding that beating, and threatening to eliminate opposition opponents was not the solution and would not help the PF at all cost.
“We are being beaten, attacked, and harassed because we keep reminding the PF of its obligation as a government. Now because of running a clueless government, they feel threatened with our message we are giving to our people about the need to re-examine the failed PF. Our message is clear and precise in a way the PF is helping us campaign,” said Mr. Hichilema.
He said the route the PF government had taken would lead them into serious problems as a party and trouble as a country.
Mr. Hichilema wondered why the PF leadership had allowed the situation in the country to degenerate to the levels where tolerance was not considered.
He said that the violence the PF had exhibited in the past two and half years had dented the image of the country both locally and internationally.
He warned that any further and continued attacks on innocent Zambians, his party would have no option but to report President Sata to the international community and the Hague for allowing cadres to turn the country into a battle zone.
Mr. Hichilema said that there was no way he would allow the PF to continue harassing and victimising Zambians for demanding from the leadership that it fulfilled its promises made in 2011 which it had continued breaching.
“Zambia is not at war, the PF and President Sata should know that. We shall report them to The Hague and the international community. The PF is a brutal regime which is being supported by corrupt and heartless people. Mr. Sata has turned this country into a failed state and we shall not allow him to finish it,” Mr. Hichilema said.
