Constitution indaba planned for April 30

A constitution meeting to involve all opposition political parties and government for a consensus on the constitution making process has been set for April 30, says Southern Africa Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) executive director Boniface Chembe.

Mr Chembe said that the planned indaba would provide a stage for questions and answers to sticky issues regarding the constitution making process.

“Opposition parties have already written to government seeking a meeting which they say should be chaired by President Michael Sata to iron out issues regarding the constitution making process,” he said

Mr Chembe said the meeting was expected to bring all stakeholders together, and put them on the same plane on where the process was coming from and where it was. The meeting will also discuss the way forward.

Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba is reported to have already welcomed the idea of the indaba.
