President Michael Sata has with immediate effect fired Tourism and Arts minister Sylvia Masebo.
Mr Sata thanked Masebo for the services rendered to the country during her tenure of office.
Masebo was until recently facing a tribunal over alleged corruption and breach of ZAWA Act when she cancelled hunting concession licences and fired the directors.
She told the tribunal headed by Judge Rhoyda Kaoma that President Sata had directed her to dissolve the ZAWA board and fire its directors.
But President Sata was reported to have distanced himself from the claims by the former minister.
Sources told the Daily Nation that President Sata was not amused that Masebo had dragged his name into her alleged misconduct and that he had demanded that the Tourism Minister should prove to him that he ordered the dissolution of the ZAWA board and dismissal of its directors. And Zambian Voice executive director Chilufya Tayali has since commended the President for taking such a bold step.Tayali said President Sata’s whip should be extended to other ministers especially those who were confrontational and had no regard for the people of Zambia.
