Daily Mail fires Mukwita

The Zambia Daily Mail has with immediate effect fired its managing director Anthony Mukwita.

Zambia Daily Mail board vice-chairman Tamara Kambikambi yesterday said the newspaper had decided to terminate the contract of Mukwita in a bid to re-organise the management team at the institution.

Kambikambi said it had become clear that Zambia Daily Mail needed a new direction in its operation and that the current situation at the institution was no longer conducive for the achievement  of the objectives of the company.

Kambiakambi said the board had made the decision to terminate the contract of Mukwita in the best interest of Zambia Daily Mail.

“The Zambbia Daily Mail Board of Directors has with immediate effect terminated the contract employment for the managing director Anthony Mukwita as part of the re-organisation of the management team of the company the board has embarked on. It has become clear to the board that the company needs a new direction and that the current situation at the Zambia Daily Mail is no longer conducive for the achievement of the objectives of the company,” Kambikambi said.

The Zambia Daily Mail board has since appointed its director finance Bryson Mumba to act as managing director until the substantive holder of the position is identified.
