An independent post-mortem was yesterday conducted on slain Patriotic Front cadre Moses Simuwela’s body. By press time, the pathologist hired by the family was still conducting the post-mortem at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) to ascertain the death of Simuwela.
The body which was buried at Leopards Hill cemetery was yesterday afternoon exhumed after days of uncertainty following objections to the independent post-mortem by the police.
Last week Zambia Police blocked Simuwela’s family from going ahead with the exhumation of the body after it was learnt that the Pathologist they had contracted to undertake the exhumation was linked to the police service.
Simuwela was killed by his colleagues in the PF, a fortnight ago when a group of cadres went to the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport where President Michael Sata was laying the foundation for the rehabilitation works at the airport fought battles in protest against the continued stay in office by Wynter Kabimba.
Police had earlier in their findings stated that Simuwela who was badly beaten, died from natural causes, a report which was disputed by family and other stakeholders who have since teamed up for an independent analysis.
