Vendata apologises to Sata

Vendata resources PLC has apologized to President Michael Sata for comments attributed to Konkola Copper Mine (KCM) chief executive officer Kishore Kumar that the warning not to lay off workers was mere rhetoric.

This was after the company announced its intentions to lay off 1,500 workers and the head of state directed that the mining giant should not declare any employee redundant.

KCM was however reported to have laid off 76 workers but the company said the workers were relieved of their duties were casual workers belonging to a contractor MMS.
