Starving villager shares breast milk

Serious hunger has hit many areas of Southern Province and villagers are starving because no relief food has reached them.

Now Katombora MP Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane has warned the Government against using relief food for campaign purposes, by delivering supplies when there were by elections only.

Speaking in Parliament last Dr. Musokotwane, former Minister of Finance, cited the case of a villager named Mutunga, who he said was suckling from his wife because there was no food ‘This man shares breast milk with his child because there is not enough food for them.” He said.

The situation he said, was pathetic and that there was need for the Disaster Management Unit to move in immediately to provide food to the starving villagers. It was wrong, he said, for relief to be used for political purposes.
