Monze-based rally driver Ken Mukosa at the weekend won the Sable Rally in Chisamba to clinch the 2013 Zambia rally title.
The driver known in rally circles as ‘Ichongedwe’ had his three straight wins with a third place finish on the first day of the season set him on the path to victory.
Mukosa’s second place national standings on the Puma Rally were enough to hand him his maiden Zambia Rally title with an unassailable 54 points.
“Another victory for Team Kenneth. To all my fans, my sponsors, my service crew and everyone one around, I would like to say thanks for the support,” Mukosa said.
To all my fellow drivers, Farook, Geoffrey, Yazdaan, Azim, Toofail, Shabbir and Chimanga, thanks for the competition. Looking forward to seeing all the drivers in Monze next month,” he added.
The Monze-based driver took the laurels after bringing home his Pembe Flour Mills/Mwalin Investments Subaru Impreza N8 two minutes 30 seconds quicker than Farook Ticklay who placed second in a Ticklay Motorsport Subaru N10.
Mukosa deservedly emulates his ex-Team Total mate, the late Charles Kapya Sinyangwe, who was champion in 2005.
Geoffrey Chulu (Chulu Racing Team Subaru GC8), who was on his second rally after a lengthy layoff, grabbed the final slot on the podium in a distant eight minutes five seconds off Mukosa’s winning time one hour 22 minutes 28 seconds.
“Firstly I give praise to the Almighty our creator for the good race we had. Then I would like to thank all the fans, Chulu Racing Team, my crew. Special thanks to Ashish for his help. Third overall feels very good after a long time,” Chulu said.
Ashish Patel was the only casualty from the rally after encountering mechanical problems on his Action Auto Subaru GC8.
