UPND expels Minister Monde

The UPND on the Copperbelt has endorsed the decision by the party leadership to expel Itehzi Tezhi Member of Parliament Greyford Monde for accepting a ministerial position.

Special assistant to UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema Cornwell Sakala told the Daily Nation that it was only right for his party to institute disciplinary action against Mr Monde.

Mr Sakala said it was better for the party to remain with a few members that would be loyal than members who had evil intentions against the party and its leadership.

Yesterday President Sata appointed Mr Monde as deputy minister in the ministry of agriculture and livestock.

Meanwhile, President Sata has swapped Commerce minister Hon. Robert Sichinga with his Agriculture counterpart Hon. Emmanuel Chenda.
