Careless talk about Bemba domination in government can lead to genocide Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba has warned.
He warned that Members of Parliament should be careful with their comments on tribal issues especially in respect of Bemba domination.”I have heard this aired around the country” he said
He said the MPs should know that whatever they said did not end up in the House but went far and was heard by every Zambian.
He was responding to a point of order raised by Monze Central MP Jack Mwiimbu who wanted to know why the entire 11- member Energy Regulation Board (ERB) was Bemba.
While admitting that the board was wrongly constituted, Mr Kabimba said people should be careful with what they said because careless comments could easily start genocide like it happened in some neighbouring countries.
Mr Kabimba said the appointment of ERB was wrong and ultra vires because to start with the board should only consist of seven members and not 11 as the case was presently.
He admitted that some of the members on the board did not meet the qualifications as required by the law while others were PF representatives contrary to the law which specifically excluded such individuals.
He assured the House that government was going to rectify the situation which he blamed on “sleepy” civil service.
